The All-Nighter

All-Nighters, we’ve all done it for some reason or another. The newest game just came out, cramming for a test, or you just feel like watching movies all night. I found an awesome guide on how to successfully pull an all nighter. Written by an electrical engineering student, my brother is a mechanical engineering student so this is similar to how his life is, but anyway this page goes through some awesome key points on how to make your next all nighter a good one.

Check it! here.

Now the voice of experience comes into play. Several of his points are awesome ones that I agree with, and even did just because. Eating cereal, energy drinks (I didn’t have a Starbucks Doubleshot, but I think a Monster is equal), and finally violent video games. One thing that I don’t do is leave the lights on, but when I am in my room working at the mighty keyboard I never have the lights on so it would be odd for me to do that. Well I don’t know what kind of papers this quarter at school I’ll be writing at 3am, but hopefully this guide will help you out as much and I think it will help me.

Chicago Skyline Pictures

Tonight I went to a party on the 56th floor of the Chase Tower. Here are some pictures I took of the Chicago at night.

iBook G4 vs. Powerbook G4

My parents recently needed to upgrade computers. My fathers old Powerbook G3 has been an amazing trooper, it will be sad to see that computer go. My mother up until a few months ago used an iMac G3. Then she used a Toshiba ultralight laptop, till my sister intorduced it to the floor. So she needed something new, afterusing the laptop she knew she wanted another, but a Mac because she missed the lovely interface. So I got on Apple and got my mother a new iBook G4 12in, and my father a Powerbook G4 12in. He wanted the Powerbook because it was gray and he apparently doesn’t do white. Whatever.

So they both arrived this week. Perfect…right in time to go to Chicago. The iBook arrived first and I got it all setup and such. I have to say it’s an awesome machine. I used an iBook G3 back when I was in high school a few years back, but the upgrade to the G4 is amazing. I used the new iBook for a few days to see how I liked Mac OS X 10.4, I was quite familiar with 10.3, but 10.4 has some awesome new features. According to Apple over 200, and I believe it the change for 10.3 to 10.4 is not hard its just exiting. For more info check out Apple’s OS X page.

So as soon as I was done playing with the iBook and handed it over to my mother, the Powerbook showed up. Holy perfect timing, after a day without the iBook I missed the OS X interface. It was quite nice. Now the Powerbook. Now this computer is an amazing piece of hardware. It feels a bit heavier than the iBook, but rightly so, it’s metal. I’m not sure how the metal will hold up to scratching, but I don’t believe it to be a problem. Ill post some updates in a few weeks once the computers get used a bit. Both computers are awesome but if I had a choice I would go for the Powerbook.

Info from Apple on the Powerbook and iBook.

I am using the Powerbook here in Chicago so I’ve been experimenting with some freeware software and other goodies. I’ll post up some info once I feel comfortable with my findings.

After using the two laptops I am really thinking about getting a Powerbook. I like the Powerbook a little more than the iBook because it just felt more industrial, and you don’t see that many of them. The iBooks are much more popular and for a reason they are 500bux cheaper for basically the same machine. Either that or I might get a mini and hook it up to my KVM at home.

My findings so far…more later on.

In Chicago

Well finally I get around to posting something about my personal life. I am in Chicago on business till Wednesday. I got here last night in time to somewhat unpack and go down and grab a bite to eat. If anyone reading this has ever had swordfish, the dinner I had at the Palm Restaurant last night was amazing. One of the best I’ve ever had. The view I have out the room is amazing to say the least. I’ll try to grab some pictures off my camera phone and post them up when I can.

Today I got up and had a great breakfast. Then walked around downtown Chicago. Went into the John Hancock building…. that thing is freaking tall… Then walked black to the hotel via Michigan Avenue. Was a nice day, not to cold, and not to windy. Tonight I’m going to a party thing, forgot where, but it should be eventful.

Tomorrow after breakfast I think I am going to try to cruse over to the Museum of Science and Industry, and then possibly the Sears Tower.

Then Monday will be meetings, etc. Fun fun.
