[...] A Credible Challange for Firefox. Posted in Geeks Attack by thenewlastsplash on June 24, 2006 Imagine having aweb browser with the features of Firefox and some of its best extensions, without the need to install the extensions manually? There you have it, Opera 9. If you are still using IE, here is another great alternative you have to try. In fact, Opera 9 is so smart that it actually imports bookmarks from Firefox automatically. And there’s no need for a session manager which may not be able to recover from a crashed session, as Opera 9 opens up the same tabs from the window which you have closed previously. The “Home” and the “Top Ten Visited Sites” buttons are cleverly hidden within the address bar (they appear only when you click on the address). So the menu and toolbars are less cluttered and you can have a larger area for surfing. When I first started loading a folder of sites simultaneously, it took quite a while. After that, things went smooth and I started to discover the cool features which came out of the box. Unfortunately, things turned sour when it failed to load up Yahoo! Mail Beta (AJAX version of the web mail). Anyway, I wanted to do a detailed review on Opera 9 a few days ago, but was too caught up with work. I guess by now my lazy bones have set in and you can find many good reviews out there (a wonderful excuse, isnt it?), so probably I’ll not be doing the review. However, before you download Opera 9, I suggest you read an article on Firefox 1.5 vs Opera 9 here. [...]

yes now we can think about some new web browsers. some problems always there in old browsers. first if we talk about browsers compatibility of website it's always create problem.IE also decreasing their reputation in browsers world. so opera 9.5 is very good in terms of all aspect of a web browsers. it’s very cool but still a long way to go beat Mozilla.

cheers

I think fire fox is the best web browser. Because we can do more thing in fire fox as far as the customization is concern. So many add-on is there for use. Opera is nothing before fire fox. Firefox provide extra features than opera.i think opera will take some more time to compete firefox browsers.

Well I guess it is time to forget about older browsers. I am using now opera 9.5 and ff3 and I recently read about firefox which is not going to produce or make available new security updates for firefox 2 or lower versions. Though I think opera is a great browser, but not still so popular at many websites not supporting features through opera(e.g alexa toolbar).

Oh and about the mouse gestures, they are simply great. Some times I do mistakenly do a wrong gesture unintentionally, but I come back ontrack with another gesture.
The fact that I always have one hand on mouse (while surfing) and I can control nearly everything with it, is simply great.

And oh not to mentions the password saving mechanism. I dont know about the firefox. But consider you have multiple accounts on say Yahoo. You want to save password of both accounts, no problem. Save them, the next time you hit "Ctrl + Enter" on Yahoomail.com, a small dialog box will appear that shows you all the usenames saved for yahoomail.com. Pick the one you want to login with, and there you go.

I am so accustomed to Opera, that using IE and Firefox seems alot difficult. And I was using IE before I switched to opera.
In my 2+ years of using it, there is only 1 site, that displayed, but I failed to login when using opera (that uni admission site). So I used firefox instead, but otherwise it displayed all the sites I wanted.
When I first installed and used it, I thought its a browser just made for me. Why searching for an extensions, when you all get it in one package, that is tested and works great.

Here are some of cool opera features that I use.

someone talked about real-time search.
in opera press '.' on your keyboard and there you go.

there switching between tabs is made a lot easier.
try '1' and '2' on numpad and you will be going back and forth between tabs.

then In firefox 2.0 using Ctrl + Tab will take you to the next tab, while in opera it takes you to the last tab that was active. So doing Ctrl + Tab actually switches you between two tabs only. '1' and '2' for a quick round of all tabs and Ctrl + Tab to switch between only two tabs, thats what I wanted.

Want quick searching, like on google. Open tab and in address bar write "g Opera vs Firebox" and there you go, quick search in google. You can add and edit your own Search Engines from Tools->Preference->Search tab.

I ran both browsers for a while, I used firebox to open just 1 site (a uni admission site) and for my daily surfing I always use Opera. It never crashed on my system, while Firefox crashed a lot of time. Blazing fast, and provides what I need.
When I used dial-up that "Show Images" feature really came in handy. And this feature of fetching the page from cache when ever I hit Back button is just great. Why do I need to reload my Yahoo Inbox after reading every mail.

And btw, I never had any problems with Gmail and Yahoo Beta. They run great.

Seriously why do I have to dl extension (and who make them? guys at firefox, who test them for any vulnerabilities?) when I can get everything I need in one package.

I suggest people look for enigma browser and download it from http://store.democratz.org

You can find the link just above the products and you can download it for free.

Engima runs faster than Firefox and you can easily run 32 tabs and not slow down the machine.
